THE FARM
La Chataigne Farm has belonged to the Parkfelt family since they moved to Franschhoek from Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1972. Today, La Chataigne Wines and Guest Cottages is run by Richard and Julie Parkfelt with the support of a great team. It is a working farm, situated 7 km from Franschhoek village, in the heart of the winelands. Simplicity and value are at the forefront of the La Chataigne Brand.

We make a boutique range of white, red and rosé wines. Only a fraction of our grapes are bottled under the La Chataigne brand, making a total of +-15,000 bottles each year. Due to our small nature we are able to be selective and hands on in our winemaking. Our styles range from classic and elegant to fresh and fruity, always mindful of ultimate balance and accessibility to both pocket and palate.

Our guests have a choice of five self-catering cottages; two charming riverside cottages (both 2 bedroom), one Scandi style vineyard cottage (1 bedroom), and two contemporary mountain view cottages (both 1 bedroom). All of our cottages are fully equipped and tastefully furnished with open plan living and kitchen areas, as well as private verandahs/decks. There are fireplaces for cold winter nights and air conditioners in the bedrooms, as well a swimming pool in the orchards to cool off on hot summer days.
